SAT/ACT practice with a confidence signal on every question.
Practice with a signal, not just a score.
- Our stoplight signal separates what you know from what you guessed, so a lucky answer never hides a weak spot. You finish every test with an honest read on where you stand.
- The Desmos Advantage: six short lessons on calculator moves that can jump your score, using the same tool you'll have on test day.
- Or turn the questions you missed into a printable worksheet, drawn fresh from the bank so it is new practice rather than the ones you just saw.
Jump straight into practice. Pick a test, build a set, and run the signal on every answer.

Find your starting point
A baseline assessment mixes the most common SAT topics across every difficulty level, so you can see where you stand before you start drilling.
Longer sittings place you more precisely — 30 is the sweet spot.

Drill the topics you just struggled with, take a fresh randomized test, or start over with a new score.
Multiple choice tests like the SAT don't know when a right answer is just lucky. We fix that and also apply AI to give you more accurate signals.
Algebra · SAT style
If 3x = 18, what is the value of x + 4?
Pick an answer, then your confidence level
The trap: divide both sides by 3 to get x = 6, then add 4 — the answer is 10. Stopping at x = 6 is answer A, and answering the wrong quantity is one of the most common ways to lose a mark you understood.
In a real test this lands in Signal review: the explanation, then a fresh question on the same topic to prove it stuck.
Same score. Different students. Different needs.
Two students both score 7 out of 10 but need to focus on completely different areas. A percentage with standard tests cannot tell them apart.
Six sure and correct. One lucky. The three misses were already flagged as unsure, so nothing here is a surprise.
Two sure and correct. Five lucky. Two confident mistakes hiding inside the 7, and this score will not survive test day.
Three steps, every session
-
Answer real questions
SAT and ACT style questions across every topic and difficulty tier, with the same Desmos calculator you get on test day sitting inside each one.
-
Tap how sure you were
Know it, maybe, or don’t know. One tap locks your answer before you ever see the result, so the read on your confidence is honest.
-
Review what was not sure and correct
Signal review walks you through every lucky guess and confident mistake, one problem at a time, with a fresh question to prove it stuck. The AI Analysis radar keeps score per topic.
Six outcomes instead of one percentage
Crossing your answer against your confidence sorts every question into one of six outcomes. Here is a 7 out of 10 the way StudySignal scores it.
- Mastery sure and correct. Banked.
- Misconception sure and wrong. The most valuable thing on the page, because you did not know you had it.
- Lucky unsure and correct.
- Shaky unsure and wrong.
- Fluke a guess that landed.
- Stumped no idea, or skipped.
AI analyzed tests tailored to your needs
Every answer and every signal you tap feeds a per-topic mastery radar. The AI reads that radar and builds your next test around the topics that need you most.
-
A radar that remembers
Every topic carries an all-time mastery score that lucky guesses cannot inflate.
-
Weakness-weighted question picks
One tap builds a fresh test where your weakest topics dominate the mix, pitched at your target score.
-
A loop that closes
Each retake re-reads the radar, so the mix keeps shifting to whatever needs you next.
Three things a stack of practice tests cannot do
Stoplight signal
Separates what you know from what you guessed, so a lucky answer never hides a weak spot.
Every attempt updates a per-topic mastery radar, tracking topics as they move from guessed to known. Tailored tests read that radar and weight your weakest topics automatically.
The Desmos Advantage
Six short lessons on the calculator moves that raise scores, using the tool you get on test day.
The digital SAT gives everyone the same Desmos calculator, but most treat it like an arithmetic box. It solves systems and reads off zeros faster than the algebra will.
Worksheets from what you missed
Turn the questions you got wrong into a fresh printable worksheet, drawn from the live bank.
Every sheet draws new questions on the topics your signal says you have not got yet, answer key included, so it is fresh practice rather than the ones you just saw. Teachers get the builder itself: any topics and difficulty tiers in the bank, for a class that has not sat anything yet.

Sixteen years of tutoring, built in
StudySignal is co-founded by Michael Weber, who developed the Signal Method: to properly evaluate a multiple choice result, and read the confidence behind the answer, not just the answer. The six outcomes and the adaptive review you just read about are that method, turned into software.
With over 16 years of SAT/ACT tutoring experience, along with teaching core math from elementary mathematics through calculus, I've developed a deep understanding of how students learn and where they struggle.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why not just use Khan Academy?
Use both. Khan Academy is free and official, and it grades right or wrong. StudySignal also grades sure or unsure, because a lucky guess scores the same as mastery right up until test day. The signal is the part no Khan Academy score report can give you.
Doesn't rating my confidence slow me down?
It is one tap, and the tap is also your answer lock, so it replaces a button you would press anyway. Most students stop noticing it within a few questions. Asking yourself "am I sure?" is itself a test day skill.
Is it free?
Yes. Start a practice test right now without an account. Sign in when you want your history, radar, and tailored tests to follow you across devices.
Which tests does it cover?
SAT, ACT, PSAT, SSAT, HSPT, and ISEE style practice. The start screen shows the banks currently active, and the signal works the same way on every one.
What happens when I finish a test?
You get the score, the six outcome counts, and Signal review: a walk through everything that was not sure and correct, with explanations and fresh questions. Every attempt also feeds your per-topic mastery radar.
Where do the questions come from?
The bank is written and reviewed to match the style, difficulty tiers, and topic frequencies of the real exams. Every question is tagged by topic and by how often that topic actually shows up.

Worksheet builder · SAT Math
Tap a few cells, then generate. This is the real builder gesture.
Worksheets that print themselves
Pick the topics and the difficulty tiers. The builder pulls from the live question bank, weighted toward what actually appears on test day, and gives you a sheet with the answer key on its own page.
From the live bank, not a PDF from 2019
Every cell in the builder shows how many questions it holds, and each topic carries how often it shows up on the real exam. Empty tiers cannot be picked, so a worksheet never comes back short.
- Answer key on its own page, so you can hand out the front and keep the back
- Teacher edition adds the full worked explanation to every answer
- Shuffle the order, or run easiest to hardest for a warm-up
- Same sheet as a Practice Test, a Test, or shared online by link
- Saved worksheets wait in your dashboard for next week
A roster that shows the signal
Share a test link and students join your roster the moment they open it. Every attempt comes back with the score and the confidence signal on each answer, so you see who knew it and who guessed.
Two students, one score, different problems
Diego and Aiden both scored 7 out of 10. Diego was unsure on most of his right answers. Aiden was sure on one he got wrong. A gradebook calls them the same student. The roster does not.
- Students join automatically when they open your link and sign in
- Every student row shows tests taken, mastery and last active
- Every test shows who has taken it, the average, and each question
- The share link stays on the test, ready to copy again next week
Tap the weak cells. Get a test for exactly those.
Open a student and every attempt they have made rolls up into one grid: topic down the side, difficulty across the top, correct over total in each cell. Check the cells that need work, pick a length, and the follow-up test is built and assigned to that student with a link ready to send.
- Built from the student's real attempts, not a placement guess
- Their attempt history sits right under the grid
- Results from the targeted test flow back into the same grid
Also in the dashboard
Compose a test, share one link
Pick the test, the topics, the difficulty and the length. Every student who opens the link draws from the same pool, and every result comes straight back to you, signals included.
Bring your own questions
Teaching something the bank does not cover? Make a custom test with your own questions, written in the dashboard or imported as JSON. It stays private to you and the students you share it with.
Six outcomes per answer
Each answer lands in one of six boxes: Mastery, Misconception, Lucky, Gap, Fluke or Cold. A sure-and-wrong answer is a misconception to reteach. An unsure-and-right one is a guess to firm up. Both look like a plain right or wrong anywhere else.
Questions teachers ask
What does it cost?
The first 14 days are free, then $28 a month, and you can cancel any time. Signing in and looking around costs nothing: the dashboard, the roster and the whole worksheet builder are open before you pay, and the plan is what creates the worksheet and sends a test to a student. Your students never pay to take what you share, whatever plan they are on.
Do my students need an account?
To take a test you share online, yes: they sign in with Google or an emailed link, which is what puts them on your roster and keeps their results attached to them. Printed worksheets need nothing at all.
Which tests does the bank cover?
SAT, ACT, PSAT, SSAT, HSPT and ISEE style questions, each tagged by topic, difficulty tier and how often that topic appears on the real exam. The builder only offers what is live, and for anything else there are custom tests.
Can I see how a student did on a specific question?
Yes. Every test you share lists who has taken it, the class average, and each question with how many got it right. Open a student for their attempt history and their topic by difficulty grid.
I tutor one on one. Is this for me?
Especially. A roster of one still gets the matrix, the targeted tests and the printable worksheets, and the link you share is easier to paste into a parent email than "go sign up somewhere."

Frequently Asked Questions
Everything we get asked, grouped. If your question is not here, write to us and it probably will be.
Getting started
What is the confidence signal?
Every time you answer, you also say how sure you were: you know it, you are not sure, or you are guessing. That second answer is the signal. It turns one score into six outcomes, so a lucky guess and real mastery stop looking identical.
Do I need an account?
Not to practice. You can take a test and see your results without signing up. An account is what saves your history, so the app can build later tests around what you actually missed.
How long does a test take?
As long as you want. Ten questions is a warm-up, twenty-two is one module, forty-four is a full math section. You pick the length when you create the test.
Can I use it on my phone?
Yes. The site works on any phone browser, and there is a native iOS app in beta.
How the signal works
What are the six outcomes?
Mastery is sure and correct. Misconception is sure and wrong, which is the most dangerous one. Lucky is unsure and correct. Shaky is unsure and wrong. Fluke is a guess that landed. Stumped is no idea or skipped.
Why is a confident wrong answer worse than a guess?
Because you will not study it. A guess already feels like a gap. A confident miss feels like a win until the day it costs you points, so it is the outcome the app pushes hardest to surface.
Does rating my confidence slow me down?
It is one extra tap, and it is the tap that makes the results worth reading. Most students settle into it within a few questions.
Can I skip the confidence step?
Skipping is itself a signal, and it records as Stumped. That is honest, and it is more useful than a forced guess.
Tests and questions
Which tests do you cover?
SAT and PSAT are live now. ACT, SSAT, HSPT and ISEE are on the way, and clicking one tells us to hurry.
Where do the questions come from?
The bank is written and reviewed to match the style, difficulty tiers, and topic frequencies of the real exams. Every question is tagged by topic and by how often that topic actually shows up.
Are these real past exam questions?
No. Real exam questions are copyrighted. Ours are written to the same specifications, which is what every reputable prep company does.
What is a difficulty tier?
Questions are graded easy, medium, hard and insane, mapped to the score band a student at that level is working in. You choose the tier, and lower tiers are always included so a test never becomes all-or-nothing.
Can I practice one topic at a time?
Yes. The test builder lets you pick topics and difficulty cell by cell, so you can spend a whole session on the two things you keep missing.
Is there a calculator?
Desmos is built into math questions where graphing helps, and it opens prefilled with the question's equations. There is a Bluebook-style reference sheet too.
Results and progress
What happens when I finish a test?
You get the six-outcome breakdown, a worked solution for every question, and a mastery radar showing which topics are solid. Then the app builds a follow-up test out of everything you did not master.
What is the mastery radar?
A per-topic score that only counts answers you were sure about. A lucky guess cannot inflate it, which is the whole point.
What is an AI-tailored test?
A test weighted toward your weak spots rather than picked at random. The weaker a topic, the more of the test it takes up.
Does my history follow me between devices?
Yes, once you have an account. Sign in anywhere and your attempts, radar and progress come with you.
Plans and billing
Is it free?
The core is free forever, and it is not a trial: unlimited practice, the confidence signal, full results and review, the mastery radar and your whole analysis history. What you pay for is generation, which is the part that costs us real work: new tests and worksheets built from your own history.
What does Signal Plus cost?
10 dollars a month, or 25 dollars for three months. Both are opening soon.
Does the three month option renew?
No. It is charged once, runs for three months from the day you buy it, and then stops on its own. Nothing is saved to bill you again. If you buy another one while the first is still running, the new one starts when the old one ends rather than overlapping it.
Do teachers pay?
Yes, 28 dollars a month, and the first 14 days are free. That covers the worksheet builder, the roster, custom tests and Signal Plus for your own practice. Looking around is free: the dashboard and the builder open before you pay. A student opening a test from a teacher's link never sees a paywall, whatever plan anyone is on.
Can I cancel?
Any time, from Manage billing on your plan page. You keep everything until the end of the period you have already paid for, and nothing is charged after that.
What happens to my students if I cancel?
Nothing happens to them. Your roster stays, every test you have already shared keeps working, your students keep taking them for free, and their results keep arriving on your dashboard. What stops is creating new things: making a worksheet, sending a new test, building a custom test. Start paying again and those come straight back, with nothing to set up a second time.
Teachers
What do teachers get?
A test composer, printable worksheets with answer keys, a class roster, and a performance matrix that shows the confidence signal per student and per topic.
Do my students need accounts?
They can open a shared test from a link. An account is what lets their results roll into your roster over time.
Can I see who guessed?
That is the point of the matrix. A quiet seven out of ten built on lucky guesses cannot hide in a percentage.
Privacy
What do you do with my data?
We store your attempts so the app can teach you. We do not sell them. The full detail is in the privacy policy.
Can I delete my account?
Yes. Email us and we will remove it along with your attempt history.
